Experimental Aircraft News Magazine - JMB Aircraft attracted attention with their retractable LSA-like aircraft. I’ve seen this company in Europe at the Aero Friedrichshafen show. They are impressive marketers and they wish to use those skills to promote their faster model that smokes along at 145 knots propelled by the 100 horsepower Rotax 912 engine.

The VL3, built by JMB Aircraft, is a single engine low wing ULM and is the fastest side by side Ultra Light aircraft. Its cruising speed is 250 Km/h (134 Kts) and has a range up to 2,500 Km (1,350Nm). The VL3 aircraft are equipped with a Rotax 912 engine, a retractable gear, Constant Speed Unit, a EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument) Garmin G3X Touch with EIS (Engine Indication System) and Auto Pilot.

If the VL3 looks vaguely familiar to you, congratulations on your sharp eye. JMB Aircraft is the new production company of the VL3, a plane designed by Vanessa Air and produced in the past by Aveko. Truly keen readers will recognize Aveko was the builder behind the Gobosh 800XP of the earliest years of Light-Sport Aircraft. The 31.5-foot-span Aveko/Gobosh version is a fixed gear LSA model where the 27.7-foot-span retractable VL3 is allowed to perform better when registered as an Experimental Amateur Built or other experimental category. The LSA model maxes at 119 knots in max cruise where the high cruise of VL3 is 145 knots.

The airframe of the JMB Aircraft VL3 features all composite carbon fiber and kevlar construction. The craft features side by side seating, with dual stick and rudder controls.

The VL3 has both heating and ventilation, and the seating is available in either textile or leather. The plane is equipped with a four point safety harness.

The large luggage area has room for four airline cabin luggage bags.
